You’re pulling up to the drive-thru, listening to your radio, and using your best speaking voice to place your breakfast order. A sign tells you to have your payment ready. 

You haven’t order ahead. You’re just on the move.

So the question of the day is… 
Who is going to own the payment window of that customer experience?

Today’s radio and payments challenge is to creatively focus, influence, and maximize that customer experience. From the drive-thru menu and speaker to the store’s payment window.

The marketing point? For radio and payments?

There’s a new focused-segment in the modern customer experience. With big implications. 

Here’s a sample.

I’m driving my car, radio on. AM and FM. Spanning the spectrum on both broadcast radio bands. 

I’m driving to the local store of the global restaurant chain to get my morning cup of coffee. 

The drive-thru speaker awakens with a deadpan monotone customer service voice. 

I get my 15 seconds of public speaking practice, place my order, and proceed to the hairpin turn - shoehorned around this location - to secure my place behind several cars.

My car radio goes back to full volume. It’s payment decision time.

Given a sea of electronic wallets, cash, credit, debit and store cards, crypto, apps, and buy now pay later, driven by a variety of mobile devices with supporting software and financial services… imagine having influence at this customer inflection point.

Own the payment window of that customer experience. Envision the possibilities with having a great radio campaign at that moment in time.

I believe radio owns the ‘Last Mile’ of the drive-thru payment window and customer experience. But hey, now my drive-thru lane is moving.
