Artificial Intelligence Won't Hit Back. Your Audience Will.
Show Notes Transcript

I’ve read about technology that claims to help public speaking skills. I’ve seen sales enablement technology that could assist. I’ve glanced at artificial intelligence technology that may act as a virtual trainer.

And I’m in favor of using tech to prepare your physical, vocal, and content-supported quiver to be effective on any stage or in any performance venue.

But sooner or later you’ll face a live or on-demand audience, and that audience may or may not be on your side.

So I have to add the famous quote from former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

Artificial Intelligence will never hit you back. But your audience will.

I’m Tony Compton, Welcome to my Marketing Podcast!

But there are residual benefits to prepping your ability to communicate with all audiences beyond AI - and you’ll benefit in any media and content creation scenario.

Sooner or later you’ll face a live or on-demand audience, and that audience may or may not be on your side.

So I have to add the famous quote from former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

You, will get punched in the mouth by your audience. Your audience will hit you back.

Alright, I’m near 100% positive you won’t physically get punched in the mouth by your audience — but ‘getting punched’ or ‘getting hit’ can take on any one of a number forms, from a number of sources, while you’re in front of an audience:

  • Your new boss may unexpectedly challenge you.
  • An analyst may throw curve balls.
  • Your co-worker may attempt to hijack your meeting.
  • Your co-presenter may not show, turn up late, or not prepare.
  • That co-panelist may hog the spotlight.
  • Reporters may ask you tough questions.
  • Your technology may crash, but the show must go on.

That plan for your whatever your speaking session may be may go out the window on a moment’s notice - once you got theoretically punched.

But your show must go on. Once you start walking that public speaking tightrope, AI won’t save you. No piece of technology will. You’re on your own.

AI alone will leave you and your team inches from the go-to-market finish line. And it’s not content that’ll save you.

You could have all of the computer-generated content you could ever want.

But you and your people aren’t automatically ready to speak to that content, just because you have AI-produced stuff, or AI tech.

You need the in-person ability to mix-it up with a commanding presence, across all channels of market interaction.

Fully preparing you and your team for that assignment is one job AI-alone or any piece of tech will simply never be able to do.

Especially with producing great, differentiated media content.

Which reminds me of the immediate business opportunities for those in marketing, sales enablement, tech and… broadcast radio.

That’ll be on my next podcast. Which will be experienced, down to business, and right to the point.
