Show Notes Transcript

Differentiating your media content starts with preparing your people.

Their public speaking and presentation skills.

Take note of the business world around you, right now. We’re all on-camera. We’re all behind microphones. Streaming media is everywhere. You and I have to address live, in-person audiences. Hybrid. Virtual. Remote. Recorded.

Yet in advance of producing any media content… in advance of your next public speaking, sales, demo, video, podcast, or trade show booth gig you’re given next to no communication coaching.

Differentiate your media content by preparing your people with superior communication skills.

You definitely want to differentiate your media content.

I’m Tony Compton, Welcome to my Marketing Podcast!

It’s not your media technology.

Not your graphics.

It’s beyond your messaging, and persona-based positioning.

And well past your scripting and copywriting.

Product Marketing has got to get a handle on it. Sales Enablement, too.

I once worked for a tech company and had to prepare my business unit’s portion of the annual global customer conference.

The assignment I remember the most?

Submit the PowerPoint slides for internal review in advance of the conference so that they may be checked for color, design, and branding.

That’s it!

Corporate was more concerned with having good looking slides, versus…

  • Can the company’s public speakers actually speak in public?
  • Can they attract, engage, and hold an audience?
  • Are they prepared to take the customer conference stage?

Today’s topic is differentiating your media content and that starts with preparing your people. Beyond technology. Beyond the scripting and copyrighting.  It's their public speaking, presentation, and communication skills that are the most important parts.

You and I have sat in on one too many bad PowerPoint presentations. That’s includes webinars, demos, event sessions, keynotes, sales pitches, analyst briefings, and internal and external presentations.

Take note of the business world around you, right now.

Everybody is on-camera. We’re all behind microphones. Streaming media is everywhere. Business podcasting has climbed to top of the charts.

You and I have to address live, in-person audiences. Hybrid. Virtual. Remote. And Recorded.

Yet in advance of producing any media content… in advance of your next public speaking, sales, demo, video, podcast, or even a trade show booth gig you’re given next to no if any communication coaching. Just show up and do the good job you’re expected to do. With those good looking slides.

And that's similar to the vast majority of business people.

You and I sitting in on one too many bad PowerPoint presentations has now evolved into being subjected to cookie-cutter media content, across all channels of market interaction.

You want to differentiate your media content by preparing your people with superior communication skills.

Once you start playing with your mobile device when being a part of your next audience, the competitive light should go on.

And there are those who may think Artificial Intelligence will help your people prep. Maybe. Possibly. To an extent. But for those seeking to cut corners using AI, I’ll get to that on my next podcast, which will be experienced, down to business, and right to the point.

Now That’s a Marketing Podcast!
